Die Hütte Ganz Oben (The Lodge At the Very Top)

Location: Patscherkofel Berg, Tirol, Austria
Date: 27th, July, 2012
Camera/Lens: Canon EOS 550D/Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
Description: It is not often that one gets to appreciate the world from very high up. This image is a reflection of this idea with the lodge and the travelers symbolizing humanity. When I saw this photo I immediately knew I had to take it. This lodge and the hikers are at about a 2,000 meter height which is near the top of the Patscherkofel mountain. As one can see, the hikers are appreciating the view and whoever built the lodge obviously does too. The fact is that humans appreciate appealing visual images, such as the view from the top of a mountain. Why? Maybe science can tell us someday, but for now we can use this to motivate societies to preserve their environments. After all, this feeling of awe through visual interpretation is a unique human experience.
